AGC Chemicals launches sustainable coating for textiles

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2025-04-28 16:45:20 – USA

At the IDEA exhibition, AGC Chemicals Americas, Inc. (AGCCA) announced the launch of FibraLAST, the industry's first non-fluorinated coating made to offer excellent protection against oil, water, and isopropyl alcohol for woven and nonwoven industrial fabrics and technical textiles. FibraLAST coatings serve as high-performing, eco-friendly alternatives to traditional fluorinated repellent technologies.

When applied, the thin FibraLAST polymer coating creates a very fine, rough surface that works as a protective layer. This helps treated fabrics resist oil, water, and other liquids, causing them to form droplets that are easy to wipe away, making cleaning simple and fast.

FibraLAST’s non-fluorinated coatings are especially suitable for industrial fabrics, furniture coverings, filters, and textiles used in the automotive, medical, awning, and marine sectors. This new alternative to fluorinated repellents can be easily applied by dipping or spraying methods in industrial setups.

“At AGC Chemicals Americas, we are dedicated to creating sustainable solutions that truly make a difference,” said Tim Johnson, business manager for FibraLAST at AGCCA. “We are thrilled to introduce FibraLAST—a breakthrough in stain-resistant technology that gives outstanding performance without the use of fluorinated chemicals. As more people seek environmentally friendly choices, we are proud to offer an option that maintains high quality without harming the environment.”
