In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, adidas by Stella McCartney has launched a post-mastectomy sports bra, to cater for the needs of women who have had surgery as part of their treatment for breast cancer.
Designed in partnership with bra expert and consultant, Monica Harrington, the bra aims to help women introduce sport and fitness back into their lives.
Ms Harrington commented: “Over the years I’ve worked closely with women who have had breast cancer and they have confided in me about their struggles to regain confidence. Being able to share these insights and create a performance product that enables them to get back into fitness and sport has been highly rewarding.”
The bra has been constructed with ultra-soft fabric and sweat-wicking Climalite technology, in addition to designs tailored specifically to the needs of women who have undergone surgery for breast cancer, such as front zip closure, front pockets, strategic seam placement and adjustable straps.
Stelle McCartney said: “This bra allows us to support recovering patients through the next phase of their journey, and hopefully give them the confidence to get back into training.”
The launch campaign features professional boxer Michele Aboro, who is a breast cancer survivor.
