Activities at Khan al-Harir fashion and textiles expo concludes in Damascus

The three day Khan al-Harir fashion and textiles expo named after a commercial district in the Old City in Aleppo renowned for textile trade concluded on Tuesday at Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus, where 70 companies specialized in clothing, fabrics, and related production requirements participated.

The 3-day expo was organized by Aleppo Chamber of Industry, in cooperation with the Industry Ministry and the Economy and External Trade Ministry.

The Industry Minister Kamal Eddin Tu’meh said that the fact that the Aleppo Chamber of Industry is organizing this expo constitutes an affirmation of the capacity of Aleppo’s industrialists to confront to all the challenges which faced them during the crisis, adding that it also proves that Syrian industry is recovering and that it’s able to supply the local markets with a myriad of products.

In turn, Economy and Foreign Trade Minister Humam al-Jazaeri said that holding this expo in Damascus is only the first step, as the plan is to hold it in other provinces and in friendly countries as well in order to support the national industry.

This expo is being held at a time when the Syrian Arab Army is making achievements in Aleppo and its countryside, which is a sign that industry in Aleppo is on its way towards recovery.

Meanwhile, head of Aleppo Chamber of Industry Fares al-Shihabi said that the expo constitutes a message for everyone who tried to ruin the industry in Aleppo and steal its factories, pointing out that most of participants in the event suffered from terrorist acts and their factories, which they can’t access, were heavily damaged by terrorism, yet despite all that they moved their businesses to other safe areas to keep production going.

This economic activity proves that Aleppo is the capital of the Syrian industry and the textile industry in the region.
