Active Apparel Group to reduce global carbon footprint

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2024-05-28 18:27:07 – Australia

Activewear and swimwear manufacturer Active Apparel Group (AAG) has committed to minimizing its environmental impact through the implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS) across its operations in China, Australia, and the USA. The EMS, structured using the ISO14001 Standard Framework, outlines key environmental policy commitments and targets to reduce the company’s carbon footprint.

Daniel Hawker, CEO of AAG, emphasized the company's dedication to setting measurable, time-bound goals aimed at decreasing carbon emissions. Recognizing that the majority of the fashion industry’s emissions occur within the supply chain, AAG is focused not only on reducing its own operational emissions but also on helping customers manage their Scope 3 emissions.

The EMS is designed to integrate seamlessly into AAG's operations, with clear functional ownership of targets and a strong emphasis on team education. Progress is reported quarterly to stakeholders and reviewed by the company’s Board of Directors to ensure accountability and continuous improvement in reducing environmental impact.
