3 international tradeshows on garment industry to begin soon in Dhaka

The 15th edition of GARMENTECH Bangladesh 2016 is schedule to begin in Dhaka on January 13, alongwith it Gapexpo 2016 (for accessories) and Yarn & Fabrics Sourcing Fair 2016 will be also held which will bring technology suppliers, agents and garment manufacturers under one roof to explore further growth with new and advance models of machines. Exhibitors will display apparel machinery, yarn and fabrics, garment accessories and packaging equipment.

All these three international tradeshows on the garment industry are expected to pull in about 300 companies from over 30 countries.

Zakaria Trade and Fair International, ASK Trade and Exhibitions and Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) are jointly organising the events. The organisers made the announcement at a press meet at La Vinci hotel in Dhaka yesterday where Rafej Alam Chowdhury, president of BGAPMEA, was also present.

The garment sector, the life-line of Bangladesh economy, is moving ahead to reach the target of exporting $50 billion of garments by 2021, said Tipu Sultan Bhuiyan, CEO of Zakaria Trade and Fair International.

The four-day Garmentech will help in modernizing, upgrading and increasing the value chain of the garment sector, he said.

The concept of the four-day international tradeshows under one roof from leading international firms has been well appreciated, as it brings a tremendous sourcing opportunity for all the stakeholders in the textile and garment industry, said Nanda Gopal K, a director at ASK Trade and Exhibitions.

The use of such technology will help increase productivity, quality, compliance and value addition — the key challenges being faced by the industry in the country.

According to the organizers, some of the machinery will be launched for the first time in Bangladesh at the show.

In the yarn and fabrics sourcing fair, the latest collection of natural and synthetic yarn and fabric and its blends for woven and knit sectors will be showcased by overseas companies from Bangladesh, India, China and Singapore.

The GAP Expo will showcase the largest collection of garment accessories and packaging used by the garment industry.

The show will run from 13-16 January, 2016 at new venue – International Convention City, Bashundhara, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
