American apparel brand Wrangler has introduced a fleece outerwear collection featuring Hay Away, a patent-pending fabric technology designed to prevent hay, straw, mulch and grass from clinging to high-pile sherpa fleece. The technology aims to retain the warmth and comfort of traditional sherpa while reducing the need to remove debris from garments after outdoor activities.
According to Kontoor Brands, the technology is integrated directly into the fabric construction rather than applied through a surface coating, wash or finishing treatment. Developed with the needs of people working outdoors in mind, it targets farm and ranch users while also offering potential benefits for families, hikers and campers. The launch also supports the brand’s strategy to expand beyond traditional denim into workwear and outdoor apparel.
The collection includes three men’s styles: a zip-front sherpa jacket with reinforced ripstop yokes, a quarter-zip pullover in Aztec Port and Black Olive Southwestern prints, and a quarter-snap pullover. The women’s range features a full-snap sherpa jacket in blue, black and white cow-print. Children’s and youth offerings include boys’ and girls’ full-zip sherpa jackets, a boys’ quarter-zip pullover and a mixed-sherpa full-zip jacket for younger boys. The range positions Hay Away as a functional textile innovation for garments intended for outdoor work and recreation.
