AmeriBangla launches digital marketplace to connect cotton farmers

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2026-09-01 13:54:45 – Bangladesh

Cotton trade organisation AmeriBangla Corporation has launched CottonPort, a digital raw-cotton marketplace designed to connect American cotton farmers directly with spinning mills and buyers in Bangladesh. Launched in Dhaka, the platform aims to reduce the role of intermediaries while increasing price transparency, traceability and supply-chain efficiency between the two major cotton markets.

CottonPort operates 24/7 and exclusively lists American cotton sold by the container. Once purchased, containers are delivered to Chattogram, Bangladesh, with the platform’s logistics system arranging onward transportation directly to the buyer’s warehouse.

The marketplace uses a dynamic pricing model, with the price of a cotton lot decreasing daily until a buyer accepts it. Payment also triggers an immediate transfer of US title. Cotton sold through the platform carries “All American Cotton” traceability certification backed by US Customs.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening trade between two players in the cotton and apparel supply chain. The US is one of the world's largest cotton exporters, while Bangladesh is a major importer of cotton due to its large spinning and garment manufacturing industries.
