ReFiber launches nationwide campaign for unused garments in India

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2026-08-25 15:48:15 – India

ReFiber, powered by OterRi, has launched a nationwide campaign to collect unused clothes from consumers and help address the growing problem of post-consumer textile waste in India. Called ‘Freedom from Unused Garments’, the campaign allows people to arrange doorstep collection of unwanted clothes through ReFiber’s digital platform.

The initiative aims to make clothing collection more convenient while encouraging consumers to choose reuse, recycling and upcycling instead of throwing unwanted garments away. The campaign is supported by Tisser Artisan Trust, the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), UNIDO and Lions International.

ReFiber has also requested support from the Ministry of Textiles to connect its platform with upcyclers across the country. Through its planned Upcycler Marketplace, the company aims to create a dedicated platform for recycled and upcycled products while providing opportunities for small businesses and artisans.

The Freedom from Unused Garments campaign has been launched alongside celebrations marking India’s 80th Independence Day milestones. At the time of its launch, the ReFiber platform had already received around 42 requests for garment collection, with participation continuing to grow through public interest in the initiative.
