Bioforcetech (BFT), a Bay Area-based company focused on waste conversion and carbon-negative materials, has announced a new partnership with RDD and Virus Inks. The collaboration aims to create a new category of circular and high-performance textile materials and garment solutions.
At the centre of the project is OurCarbon, a material developed by Bioforcetech from treated sewage sludge. This carbon-negative material will be incorporated into advanced textile applications developed by RDD through a sustainable black screen-printing ink produced by Virus Inks. The ink formula is infused with OurCarbon, creating a new way to integrate circular materials into textile production.
Through this initiative, the companies hope to challenge traditional industry practices that depend heavily on fossil-based raw materials. Instead, they aim to show how waste materials can be transformed into effective and scalable solutions for the textile sector.
The project also examines existing industry practices, which often rely on resource extraction and processes that generate emissions and pollution. In contrast, the partners aim to develop durable and high-performing materials made from an unexpected source, sewage sludge. The collaboration offers a combined solution for fashion brands looking to develop sustainable product lines.
