London-based jewellery and accessories brand Completedworks has introduced its first sneaker design in partnership with Japanese sportswear brand Asics. The collaboration is part of Asics SportStyle’s “Crafts for Mind” programme, a non-profit initiative that promotes mental wellbeing through creativity and skilled craftsmanship.
For this project, Completedworks’ founder and artistic director, Anna Jewsbury, has reinterpreted the Gel-Kayano 20 sneaker from Asics’ early-2000s archive. Originally designed as a performance running shoe, the model has been redesigned through Completedworks’ unique sculptural style.
The Asics × Completedworks sneakers aim to combine practicality with artistic expression. The jewellery brand has decorated the shoes with unevenly placed gemstones, pearl-like bows, and floral details, reflecting its signature design elements. These decorative features contrast with the technical structure of the sneaker, creating a balance between sportswear and jewellery-inspired design.
Each pair has been handcrafted at Completedworks’ studio in London and will be offered in classic black and white. In a statement, Jewsbury shared that the studio often explores the contrast between feminine, decorative elements and practical, everyday objects. She added that trainers, with their simple and functional design, perfectly represent this balance.
