Emirates Biotech has launched its Embio product range in the United Arab Emirates, introducing a locally produced line of polylactic acid (PLA) biopolymers to the regional market. The Embio launch aims to provide a plant-based alternative to traditional plastics.

The company is supplying PLA from local stock to reduce lead times and allow smaller minimum order quantities for converters, brand owners and packaging makers. Its technical team will support customers directly by assisting with processing trials and developing new applications.

Embio PLA materials are designed to offer high clarity, strength and easy processing, while providing a far lower carbon footprint than conventional plastics. The material can be recycled or industrially composted and does not leave behind long-lasting microplastics in the environment.

Emirates Biotech CEO Marc Verbruggen said the launch of Embio marks an important step toward making renewable and compostable plastics widely accessible in the Middle East. He added that the Embio brand reflects the company’s commitment to innovation, reducing fossil fuel reliance and supporting the region’s shift toward a circular economy.
