The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Lectra Singapore PTE Ltd., a global tech company known for its CAD/CAM and digital solutions in the apparel and textile field. The agreement aims to improve digital skills, research abilities and training standards for students and professionals in Bangladesh’s garment industry.

Under this partnership, Lectra will offer BGMEA 15 free licences for its popular software tools, such as Kaledo Style, Modaris 3D and DiaminoFashion Interactive. These tools will help train students and teachers in advanced design, pattern-making and marker-making, skills that are becoming more important in the global apparel market.

BGMEA said the collaboration will greatly improve job readiness for graduates and support ongoing skill development for instructors through specialised training led by Lectra professionals.

At the ceremony, Acting President Inamul Haq Khan said that building a technology-focused and skilled workforce is crucial for the future growth of Bangladesh’s garment industry. He added that the partnership with Lectra will boost the sector’s global competitiveness and ensure training matches international standards.

Lectra Vice President Pascal Pierra said the company is happy to welcome BGMEA into its education partner programme, noting that the initiative is designed to support the development of future Bangladeshi talent in fashion technology.
