Archroma announced this week that 10 of its product groups have received Cradle to Cradle Certified Material Health Gold status under Version 4.0 of the standard. The Cradle to Cradle Material Health standard assesses the chemical makeup of products to ensure they are safe for people and the environment.

The Swiss specialty chemicals company stated that the certification covers around 200 individual products. This allows textile mills and apparel brands to confidently use these materials to work toward Cradle to Cradle certification for their own fabrics and garments.

“Our aim is to go beyond industry expectations and help drive the shift toward safer chemistries and a more sustainable future,” said Dhirendra Gautam, global VP commercial at Archroma. “The Cradle to Cradle label is becoming more important for brands and mills. We believe in transparency and in helping our partners make informed choices that protect human health and the environment, while also saving resources and improving product durability.”

Among the Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold products is Diresul Evolution Black, a sustainable sulfur black dye that helps producers create deep black denim and washdown effects with a lower environmental impact than traditional Sulfur Black 1 liquid. The dye has been used by Artistic Milliners and Textil Santanderina.

Other certified Gold products include Blue Magic, a pretreatment system featuring the all-in-one, water-saving Imerol Blue bleaching auxiliary; Sirrix NE LIQ, a biodegradable neutralizing agent; Bactosol SAP NEW LIQ, an enzyme that removes leftover bleaching agents before dyeing; the Avitera SE reactive dye range; Eriofast dyes for polyamide; Terasil WW dyes known for strong wash fastness on polyester and blends; and Ultraphor optical brighteners for synthetic fibers, fabrics and finished garments.
