Bangladesh launches platform to strengthen supply chains

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2025-11-20 14:28:06 – Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), the Ministry of Commerce, the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have together launched the Resilient Supply Chains for Sustainable Trade and Investments Platform in Dhaka. The initiative marks an important move to strengthen the country’s trade competitiveness as it prepares to graduate from Least Developed Country (LDC) status.

A BIDA delegation stated that the platform will focus on improving supply chain development, maintaining consistent policies and building stronger public–private partnerships. It will work as a central space for policy discussions, skill development and knowledge sharing, supporting Bangladesh’s larger efforts to enter global markets smoothly after LDC graduation.

BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun highlighted the need for a clear plan and strong accountability, saying the goal is real, measurable progress rather than extended discussions. He added that “by the end of 2026, we know exactly where we stand,” and pointed out that global value chains now require better labour standards, compliance and transparency.

The launch comes at a time when strong and transparent supply chains are increasingly seen as essential for keeping export competitiveness in a fast-changing global market.
