GenuTrace, a supply chain verification company, has announced a strategic partnership with textile sorting firm Refiberd to introduce a dual-layer validation system that combines forensic science with AI to confirm the authenticity and origin of fibre, yarn, and fabric.
The collaboration brings together Refiberd’s AI-driven hyperspectral imaging technology, which can quickly classify fibres, yarns, and fabrics by their unique spectral fingerprints, with GenuTrace’s forensic stable isotope analysis, which verifies the true geographic origin of cotton.
“We ask one question, ‘If you claim it, can you prove it?’ Verifying fibre and yarn composition before fabrication means that sustainability claims are not just aspirational; they’re scientifically proven,” said MeiLin Wan, Founder and CEO of GenuTrace.
By combining rapid AI classification with forensic isotope testing, the partnership enables brands and manufacturers to “Trace it Before You Make It.” This ensures authenticity and sustainability from the earliest stages of production and helps establish a reliable baseline for both virgin and recycled materials such as PET, nylon, and others. The system strengthens trust, efficiency, and quality across global textile supply chains.
