Safety Components, a developer of advanced fabric technologies, has announced the launch of an independent fluorine chemicals testing program for all National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) certified fabrics treated with its PFZero finish, the first non-fluorinated durable water repellent (DWR) finish developed specifically for PPE fabrics.
The new program strengthens the company’s recently updated PFZero Fabric Assurance policy and reinforces its commitment to transparency, quality, and confidence across product lines.
Under the program, randomized swatches from production lots will be submitted to accredited third-party laboratories for testing using scientifically recognized methods capable of detecting fluorine at trace levels. If results indicate the presence of intentionally added fluorine chemicals, Safety Components will immediately investigate, implement corrective actions, and halt shipments until compliance is confirmed.
“Safety Components is dedicated to manufacturing all our NFPA-certified fabrics finished with PFZero™ so they remain free from intentionally added fluorinated chemicals, including C6,” said Guy Lucas, President, Burlington & Safety Components. “This independent testing program reflects our rigorous quality assurance and our commitment to the health and safety of first responders and the environment.”
