Alice + Whittles make recycled plastic into fashionable boots

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2020-12-03 13:28:11 – Sri Lanka

The Canadian footwear company, Alice + Whittles, has added a new product to its line called the Weekend Boot. The Weekend Boot is a sturdy ankle booth that comes with a chunky grippy sole that is well suited for hiking trails in urban brunch joints.

The Weekend Boot is entirely vegan, containing no animal products. The inner lining is composed of recycled synthetic wool and the sole is a mix of natural and sustainable rubber (45% of which is recycled). The seams have also been sealed to ensure water-resistant. The uppers are designer from 95% repurposed marine plastics that have been collected by fishermen and do not contain an ounce of virgin plastic in the entire boot.

This gives rise to a smart solution in which post-consumer plastic is used to turn a dense, tough material for footwear, as opposed to softer polyester fabric. The boots are easy to maintain as they are washable and can be wiped after being cleaned with warm water and soap.

The boots are very comfortable and can be worn every day. They have caught many peoples eye and is made in Portugal. Currently, 90% of the supply chain is sustainable and fully traceable, but the company says it won't stop till it gets to 100%.
