Vietnam opens 300 new industrial parks and economic zones in Q1

Vietnam’s industrial parks and economic zones enticed 305 projects covering over 84,000 hectares and 16 economic zones covering 814,792 hectares of water and land during the first quarter with a large number of foreign investors, reported the Department for Economic Zones Management.

Nylon yarn price inches up in China

In China, semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices inched up US cents 2 a kg in the second week of April while FDY40D rose US cents 2 a kg.

Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices were flat while 30D/10F prices rolled over on the week.

Monofilament 30D prices rolled over while 1.5D staple fiber fell US cents 9 a kg on the upper end.

Despite firmer cost support, the previous inventory buildup has been restraining upswing in nylon filament yarn prices for many weeks now.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry confirmed that there is a plan to waive the 25 percent Customs duty on imported fabric, a move that is meant to boost the production of locally-made garments. But this could spell doom for Rwanda's only textile factory, L'usine Textile du Rwanda (Utexrwa) struggling to stay in business due to competition from imported fabrics.

Three textile factories to come up in Kutaisi and Poti, West Georgia by the end of the year, the factories will import raw material from Turkey to produces clothes which will be exported to Europe, according to the Head of the International Investors Association (IIA), Osman Chalishkan.

The factory to be built in Poti, Georgia’s port city on the Black Sea coast, will involve investment to the tune of USD 3 million and the construction of which will be completed before the parliamentary elections in Georgia on October 8th, 2016. The factory will employ 3,000 people.
