Pak textile exports witnessed negative growth of 7.72 pc current FY

Pakistan’s textile exports during the first ten months (July-April) 2015-16 of the current fiscal witnessed the negative growth of 7.72 percent at $10.395 billion compared to $11.265 billion in last financial year, said Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastigir Khan on Wednesday.

The textile products that contributed to the negative growth of textile trade, included cotton yarn, exports of which dropped by 32 percent from $1.590 billion last year to $1.081 billion during the current fiscal year.

Polyester yarn prices steady amid insipid demand

In Shengze, offers for 32s polyester yarn were down US cents 2 a kg in the first week of June and 45s were stable during the week. In Qiangqing, 32s weaving were stable on the week.

Offers for spun polyester yarns were steady that week in China, as sales was hard to improve amid insipid demand. With summer approaching, end‐use demand is likely to retreat. With fabric inventory high and yarn demand sluggish, yarn producers may trim operation.

PTA price recovers in Asia

Asian PTA marker was up US$3 a ton CFR China in the first week of June. In China, offers for bonded goods were pegged at US$610 a ton, and bids at US$595‐600 a ton amid thin liquidity. Yisheng Petrochemical list price for PTA was up US$3 a ton on the week.

Purified terephthalic acid prices recovered somewhat that week in Asian markets gaining on Tuesday and weekend as markets remained mixed with China still weak.

In India, demand was heard fading and prices were assessed lower as Reliance Industries Ltd. restarted its plant.

In the past eight years, the demand of khadi has increased to Rs 110 crore, increasing the sale and production of khadi. Pak likely impose regulatory duty on cotton imports from India

The Senate Standing Committee on National Food Security and Research unanimously recommended immediate imposition of regulatory duty on cotton imports through the land route, after being informed by Cotton Commissioner Khalid Abdullah that the decline in last year’s cotton crop resulted due to low commodity prices and APTMA pressurizing to allow duty free import of one million cotton bales from India through the Wagha border which could jeopardize the local cotton crop.

Vietname Garment and textile industry exports in the first five months of this year rose 6.1 percent to US$8.6 billion, but the rise was lower than the targeted growth of 10 percent this year. In May, the industry earned $1.75 billion, up only 3.8 percent, according to Vietnamese trade ministry.

Many Industry insiders expressed concern over the difficult for garment and textile industry to meet the target of US$31 billion this year due to falling export prices and challenges in finding new export contracts, especially for shirts, pants and jackets.

ASF price rolls over in Asian markets

In China, medium-length staple fiber and cotton-type staple prices rolled over in the first week of June.

Jilin Chemical Fiber released ASF settlement prices for May with 1.5D at 12.75 Yuan a kg (US$1.94 a kg), medium‐length at 12.70 Yuan a kg (US$1.93 a kg) and tow at 13.50 Yuan a kg (US$2.05 a kg).

Acrylic staple fibre prices stayed unchanged on the week despite upstream acrylonitrile cost surging during the week. In China, fresh ASF list prices for early June were released, flat over May settlement prices.

Acrylonitrile price jumps amid tight supply

Asian ACN markers jumped US$60-90 a ton CFR Far East Asia and Southeast Asia in the first week of June. In China, offers for offshore cargoes shot up on the week.

Acrylonitrile prices across markets jumped week on week amid tight supply, although propylene prices were a bit subdued.

In Asia, ACN price rose sharply as availability shrunk with no arbitrage cargoes heard offered in the market. In China, spot price moved higher, but capped by lukewarm downstream demand.
