India’s Rajvir Industries to halt production at Tandur, Telangana

Rajvir Industries has determined to halt production at Tandur, Telangana, with immediate effect due to shortage in the availability of the variety of quality cotton used in the manufacture of the yarn in the said Plant.

The company would be commencing the production as soon as the variety of cotton is available and procured. However, all the other Plants of the Company will continue to be operational.

Rajvir Industries is an integrated producer of cotton, melange, synthetics, modal, dyed products, compact yarn, flame-retardant, supima, silk, wool, cashmere and angora blends.

Pakistan garment exports surge 3.76% in July – August 2016

Pakistan RMG exports surged 3.76% during the first two months of the current fiscal year. During the same period, about 5,109, 000 dozen readymade garments worth of $ 364.072 million were exported, as compared to the exports of 4,944, 000 dozen worth of $350.867 million of same period of last year.

According to reports, bed wear exports rose by 5.28 percent, as about 58,365 metric tons of bed wear worth $355.799 million exported during the same period.

The exports of bed wear were recorded at 52,151 metric tons with a total cost of $337.955 million in July-August, 2015-16.

Pakistan government has taken many steps to boost cotton exports which has witnessed negative trends during the fiscal year 2015-16 as compared to the last fiscal year 2014-15.

Cotton exports have declined from $11,983 million in the fiscal year 2014-15 to $11,020 during the fiscal year 2015-16.

Due to inconsistency in yield of cotton crop, rising cost of business and shrinking global demand resulted in decrease of cotton prices in the market and consequently, this affected the exports.

Royal Dutch Shell to restart ethylene cracker in Singapore

After unplanned shutdown, Singapore based Royal Dutch Shell is planning to restart its ethylene cracker at Pulau Bukom in the next few weeks.

The cracker is currently shut down for unplanned maintenance to repair a compressor.

As a result of the shutdown, Shell on September 29 declared force majeure on its ability to supply base chemicals to customers.

Based on current assessments, we expect to restart the plant in the next few weeks.

The cracker, which produces more than 900 Mtpy of ethylene, is located at the same site as its 500 Mbpd refinery.

Serbia's HIP Petochemija to shut down ethylene plant for overhaul

Serbia’s HIP Petrohemija plans to suspend operations from the 8th until the 19th of October for an overhaul of its ethylene plant.

The works will include inspection and rehabilitation of production equipment at the plant.

The temporary halt will mean that production in Petrohemija's plants for high density polyethylene, HDPE, and low density polyethylene, LDPE, will also be suspended.

The downtime will ensure the continuation of the company's operations in a safe and efficient manner.

ASF prices stable to up in Asia

Offers for Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow rose US cents 2 a kg in the third week of September while regular specs were flat on the week. In China, medium-length staple fiber and cotton-type staple prices rolled over during the week.

Acrylic staple fibre prices were stable to up since upstream acrylonitrile values were still high under planned supply, while downstream yarn makers mainly purchased from hand to mouth volumes. However, mills showed better appetites on the back of stable acrylic yarn sentiment, but overall performance remained lackluster.

Asian acrylonitrile market witnesses mixed price movements

Asian acrylonitrile markers CFR Far East Asia was flat in the third week of September while Southeast Asia declined sharply by US$40 a ton on the week. In China, offers for offshore cargoes were down US$25 a ton on the week.

Acrylonirile price movements in Asia were mixed with Fareast marker flat and CFR South Asia falling dramatically on the week. In China, domestic prices were up despite Shanghai Secco was in process of restarting its new 260,000 ton a year ACN plant next week.

Textile Minister to sanction composite textile park in Arunachal Pradesh

Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani sanctioned a Composite Textile Park for Arunachal Pradesh. The Park would have facilities for skill development, design and product upgradation and facilities for export of finished handicrafts, the Minister said during a meeting with Chief Minister Pema Khandu at New Delhi.

Ms Irani assured of deputing a group of experts to handhold the State government in preparation of the DPR and running the centre there after, an official release said.

Bangladesh to remain major consumer of cotton in 2016-17

According to reports, Bangladesh is expected to remain the world’s largest consumer of cotton during the current year 2016-17, a growth of 10% in terms of volume to 1.2 million tons.

After Bangladesh, Vietnam is the second largest consumer of cotton at 1.1 million tons with 15% increase in growth.

Paraxylene imports in Turkey rose in Aug 2016

In August 2016, Turkey has imported around 12,938 metric tons of paraxylene, rose by 116% as compared to the corresponding period last year. As compared to last month imports declined by 6%. Turkey has imported around 13721 metric tons.

The increase was largely due to volumes inflow of 7,739 mt from Israel in August, whereas it had shipped none in the same month last year. Israel also retained the leading position among exporters in August, although it was largely unchanged from 7,732 mt in July.
