Biannual international conference on functional textiles to be held in Delhi

The Textile Department of IIT Delhi in partnership with World University of Design, Sonepat and PSG Tech, Coimbatore will be organizing a biannual International conference on Funcitonal Textile & Clothing in early February next year in New Delhi.

An International Scientific Committee comprising of scientists from over 18 countries will oversee the content of the conference.

DOC terminates anti-dumping investigation on polyester fibre against VN

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) earlier, on June 20, based on petitions filed by DAK Americas LLC, Nan Ya Plastics Corporation and Augira Polymers had officially initiated the investigation on polyester fibre imported from Việtnam, China, India, the Republic of Korea and Taiwan.

DOC announced the termination of the anti-dumping investigation on polyester fibre imported from Việtnam.

Cotton price estimated to remain around Rs 4,800 per quintal at harvest

Kapas prices have remained firm in the range of Rs.5, 900 -6000 per quintal, over the past few weeks due to lower than expected arrivals of crop and higher estimates of consumption. So far about 208-210 lakh bales or about 61 percent of the total crop has arrived, according to trade sources.

ITF forms consortium purchase quality cotton to help spinning sector

Indian Texpreneurs Federation, an apex body of textile mills in the region alongwith its total members of 35 spinning mills have formed a consortium on a trial basis to purchase quality cotton from ginners of Maharashtra and Telangana with zero trash and low level contamination.

ITF Convenor Prabhu Dhamodharan said that even one percent savings by way of good quality, better pricing, timely purchase will help spinning sector reduce its cost of manufacturing. The consortium, which required 11 lakh bales per year, has purchased two lakh bales this year.

The Garments Manufacturer and Wholesalers Association (GMWA) has organized a three-day ‘Garment Fair’ which is also the consecutive 19th edition of the “Garments Fair Hyderabad which began from Sunday for Garment Manufacturers, Dealers and Retailers.

The new textile firm to be established in Kabwe, is a brainchild of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and is earmarked for construction in the Kabwe Multi-facility Economy Zone (MFEZ), it will be the second after Mulungushi Textiles, which has ceased operations to pave way for upgrading and rehabilitation works.

The overall export of Indian cotton textiles has declined by 10 percent over the past three years, Minister of State for Textiles Ajay Tamta said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.

The cotton textiles export comprises cotton yarn, other textile yarn, fabric, madeups articles, cotton raw waste and cotton fabrics and madeups, which include products like bedsheets, blankets and curtains.
