Alassolar exports its first cotton thread consignment to Portugal

Alassola an Angolan textile company based in the municipality of Benguela in Angola’s central coastal region has entered into export business by exporting its first 15 containers containing 156 toness of cotton thread to Portugal. The company has invoiced US$500,000 through the export of its first consignment recently, said company chairman Tambwe Mukaz. Such exports to Portugal textile factories will allow the company to overcome the lack of foreign currency in Angola and to import raw material and continue production.

Trading session at cotton market witnessed buying of second grade lint on the higher side with stable physical prices. Buyers also made forward deals for a month's delivery period in second grade of cotton. On the other hand buyers and sellers looking for better grades remained busy in price wars to make deals.

Most deals for second grade of lint changed hands at around Rs 6,500 per maund, during trading session in Punjab and Sindh stations. Raw grades of lint changed hands at Rs 5,975-Rs 6,000 per maund, depending on trash level during trading session.

Bal Tekstil, professional manufacturer of carpets and rugs in Ontustik, the South Kazakhstan region’s special economic zone, since 2011 has signed a supply contract with IKEA, Sweden’s international home furnishings retailer.

Carpets are woven from three kinds of threads. The transverse warp thread is jute, which is produced in Bangladesh, where they buy it. A longitudinal thread is a mixture of cotton and polyester. They import it from India or China. Pile thread is made from polypropylene, but polypropylene has to be purchased in Russia.

Crude oil prices rose in September due to disruptions in US gulf coast aftermath Hurricane Harvey while geopolitical instability in Iraqi Kurdistan aided Brent to register its strongest third-quarter price performance since 2004. US crude prices jumped 4.2% on the month while Brent rose 7.6% as compared to previous month’s average. For September, Asian spot naphtha prices were up 10.4% on the month.

Polyester yarn becomes cheaper in India

In China, offers for 32s polyester yarn in Shengze were pegged stable in the last week of September which ended on 29th September 2017. In China, spun polyester yarn offers were steady supported by firm prices in the polyester staple fiber market during the week. Prices were gradually turning stable-to-soft during the week while sales volume of some individual specs were moderate.

In India, polyester yarn offers were revised down after inching up in the previous week. Polyester yarn 30 knit yarn prices declined INR2 a kg (down US cents 7 a kg on the week) in Ludhiana market.

Asian PTA market defies price drop in upstream market

Asian PTA prices were up US$5 a ton CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia in the last week of September which ended on 29th September 2017. In China, offers for bonded goods were up US$5 a ton and discussions for nearby month cargoes were talked in that range. Yisheng Petrochemical raised its self-lifting price by US$5 from previous week while Hengli Petrochemical kept stable offers.

VITAS appeals to remove tariffs on polyester fibre

The Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) aiming to remove difficulties for textile and garment enterprises, following feedback and recommendations of many domestic enterprises that they are finding it tough to sustain due to high cost of importing raw material, has appealed to the ministries of finance and industry and trade not to increase import tariffs on polyester fibre from zero to 2 percent.
