GHCL Limited, a well - diversified group with foot prints in Chemicals, Textiles and Consumer Products segment has partnered with Applied DNA Sciences (ADNAS), Stony Brook, New York, a company that develops and employs unique technologies for the purpose of preventing counterfeiting and Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL), an Indian conglomerate and the world's largest manufacturer of polyester fiber and yarn launched CertainT verified molecular tagged, recycled PET ("rPET") bedding products under the brand "Rekoop" at the New York Home Fashions week- March 19 to 22, 2018.

Textile Ministry targeting to double textile production by 2025

With the domestic production of textiles at $110 billion and exports and trade at $40 billion, the country's production of textiles at present is worth $150 billion. The Textile Ministry is targeting to double textile production and trade to $300 billion by 2025, said Textile Commissioner Kavita Gupta on Friday.

The International Cotton Association (ICA) ensure safe trading environment and protect the legitimate interests of both buyers and sellers has advised importers to trade the commodity under its by-laws and rules.

ICA President Mirza Salman Ispahani during his visit to All Pakistan Textile Mills Association’s (Aptma) headquarters on Thursday, said that 90 percent of the world cotton is traded under its by-laws and rules as the association has internationally recognised arbitration system and its awards can be enforced through courts in majority of the countries.

Cotton price remains stable

During the trading session at Pakistan cotton market, prices remained stable. Buyers made deals for all qualities offered by the ginners. Deals changed hands at around Rs 6,025 per maund to Rs 7,325 per maund. Domestic buyers were buying better grades on a bit higher price as they bought around 200 bales at Rs 7,250 per maund.

Spinners and mills remained quality conscious and made selective deals on slightly higher prices during the session while the leading sellers sensing future demand of quality lint offered few stocks on higher prices to the buyers.

After jump in global cotton prices to four-year highs, India’s cotton exports have been gathering pace with traders in the world's top producer of the fiber signing contracts in the last three weeks to ship over one million bales, according to industry officials.

Indian cotton is being offered around 82 to 85 cents per lb on a cost and freight basis (C&F) to buyers in Bangladesh and Vietnam, compared to over 90 cents from the United States and Brazil.
