Arvind expects Rs10,000cr business from its textiles in next 5 yrs

Arvind Limited is a textile manufacturer and the flagship company of the Lalbhai Group. Its headquarters is in Naroda, Ahmedabad, expects Rs 10,000 crore business from its textiles business in the next four to five years. The company intends to invest Rs 1,500 crore in the textiles business to expand capacity of its existing units as well as set up new facilities, according to a top company official.

Indian silk sector is witnessing a continual growth in recent years at an estimated cumulative annual growth rate of 6.40 percent based on the progress of silk sector during the last five years, said Minister of State for Textiles Ajay Tamta on Monday in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) members to set up 1,000 garment manufacturing plants with an investment of $7 billion to resolve the crisis in the sector, the association proposed recently. These will be set up near textile-producing cities like Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Kasur, Multan, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Karachi and Peshawar.

The planned units will install half a million stitching machines, which will boost annual production to three billion pieces, according to a report in a top Pakistani newspaper.
