Arvind Limited is a textile manufacturer and the flagship company of the Lalbhai Group. Its headquarters is in Naroda, Ahmedabad, expects Rs 10,000 crore business from its textiles business in the next four to five years. The company intends to invest Rs 1,500 crore in the textiles business to expand capacity of its existing units as well as set up new facilities, according to a top company official.

At the press conference held by the Lenzing Group included Global Brand Management Director Harold Weghorst, Turkey & MEA Regional Director Jürgen Eizing, and Business Development and Marketing Director MEA & Turkey Hale Saracoglu, repositioning of its Tencel brand was announced. The redefining of the Tencel brand is a key milestone of Lenzing’s new brand strategy to enhance product brand offerings, foster connection with customers and consumers, and drive consumer demand.

Indian silk sector is witnessing a continual growth in recent years at an estimated cumulative annual growth rate of 6.40 percent based on the progress of silk sector during the last five years, said Minister of State for Textiles Ajay Tamta on Monday in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

Tamta said that the Government of India has approved a project-based strategy for the North East Region under an umbrella scheme North East Region Textile Promotion Scheme (NERTPS)to boost the Silk sector in the region.

The 31st edition of Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) Autumn-Winter 2018, which is scheduled from March 14 to 18, is underway at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. AIFW saw an interplay of natural and man-made textiles. Textiles, in new forms and old, ruled supreme on the third day of the event. The design line-up of the day included a mix bag of bamboo weave ikat, pure silks and a new man-made fabric, called liva.

According the minutes of the meeting, the cabinet was informed that due to different factors cotton production had faced virtual stagnation since 1991-92, which had been fluctuating between 10 and 12 million bales, with a disastrous fall to 9.9 million bales in 2015-16.

All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) members to set up 1,000 garment manufacturing plants with an investment of $7 billion to resolve the crisis in the sector, the association proposed recently. These will be set up near textile-producing cities like Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Kasur, Multan, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Karachi and Peshawar.

The planned units will install half a million stitching machines, which will boost annual production to three billion pieces, according to a report in a top Pakistani newspaper.
