Zalando-x-Yoox-x-About-You
YOOX NET-A-PORTER, Zalando, and About You are collaborating to build a “bespoke learning platform to help their brand partners in setting science-based climate objectives.”
Through an online learning platform, the three stores will attempt to cut carbon emissions inside their value chains and across the garment sector in a “unique industry partnership.”
The customized training will be provided at no cost to the merchants’ brand partners and will teach the importance and process of setting climate objectives. It will walk you through the process of measuring emissions, setting ambitious objectives that are consistent with climate science, and submitting them to the Science Based Targets program for approval.
It will also serve as a dedicated location for fashion firms to interact with one another as well as with sustainability specialists.
The antitrust-compliant effort will be launched as a trial with chosen brand partners in Autumn 2022, in conjunction with Quantis, a prominent environmental sustainability consultant with climate expertise. In 2023, it will be made available to all qualifying brand partners.
Looking ahead, the three online retailers believe the platform has the potential to become an industry-wide effort available to all interested fashion companies and retailers dedicated to aggressive climate action and a more sustainable future for fashion.
Geoffroy Lefebvre, CEO at YOOX Net-a-Porter, said that their commitment to climate action can only be realized via collaborative innovation. This next phase prioritizes investing in brand partners at various stages of their climate journeys, assisting them in setting science-based objectives. By collaborating with About You and Zalando, they can promote a more uniform approach in their efforts to reduce luxury and fashion emissions.”\
David Schneider, Co-CEO at Zalando, said that decarbonizing supply chains in collaboration with suppliers, brands, logistics partners, packaging partners, and now rivals are a tremendous lever for pushing genuine change in the fashion sector. We want 90 percent of our partners (in terms of emissions) to set science-based objectives by 2025, and the new learning platform is a crucial endeavor toward that goal.
