Welspun to supply Made-in-Gujarat terry towels to organizers of Rugby World Cup

Welspun India Ltd. (WIL) is a fully integrated home textile manufacturer and one of the largest global home textile players, with world class manufacturing facilities in India has modern manufacturing facilities at Anjar and Vapi in Gujarat, where it produces the entire range of home textiles for bed & bath category, for the first time would be supplying terry towels to the organizers of Rugby World Cup (RWC) 2015 for the players and training officials.

The home textile major, a licence-holder of RWC for towels, has designed and developed a collection of beach towels, quick dry sports towels and blankets which are packaged and supplied as official RWC merchandise under the Christy brand.

Welspun had acquired UK-based towel brand Christy in 2006 and shifted the production to its facilities in Gujarat.

The company has also come out with a limited edition Webb Ellis towels. William Webb Ellis is a rugby legend and is allegedly called the inventor of the game. The William Webb Ellis Trophy is given to winners of the Rugby World Cup, the third-largest sporting event in the world.

Rugby to sports fans in Gujarat may sound alien but players sweating it out on the rugby grounds will be rushing for `Made in Gujarat’ towels to wipe their sweat after the bone-crunching matches.
