Welspun India receives high scores by CRISIL for ESG efforts

CRISIL, an S&P Worldwide business and India’s top rating agency, has rated Welspun India Ltd, a global leader in home textiles, a ‘Strong’ grade in its Sustainability Yearbook 2022. CRISIL examined the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives of over 575 enterprises across 53 industries using fiscal 2021 data.

Welspun India has the top results in all three areas of ecological, social, and governance among textile firms.

Dipali Goenka, joint MD and CEO of Welspun India Ltd, said that at Welspun India, they have always included ESG and circularity into every aspect of their operations, setting industry standards. As a result, they’re thrilled to see their efforts reflected in their company’s excellent ratings in each of the E, S, and G aspects. This encourages them to continue our ESG efforts, resulting in a more sustainable world.

Welspun India was honored earlier this year by the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti with first place in the ‘Best Industry’ category at the National Water Awards for its water stewardship and state-of-the-art 30 million liters per day sewage treatment plant (STP) at Anjar in the drought-prone Kutch district. According to a press release, the firm was also honored with a Jury Special Mention Award for its STP to recycle and reuse residential sewage at the Frost & Sullivan and TERI’s Sustainability 4.0 Awards 2021, which celebrated organizations integrating Sustainability with Economic Value Creation.
