Warp knitters to control defaults offer 1pc discount on early payments

Many warp knitters have lost huge amount of money to the defaulters in the textile markets to rein in defaults the warp knitters have begun offering the textile traders and brokers one percent discount for clearing payments within 10 days of the purchase.

The South Gujarat Warp Knitters’ Association (SGWKA) is a body of industry members representing the warp knitting community in a public notice issued on Thursday also stated that making payments after 25 days from the date of purchase will be liable to pay 18 percent interest on the outstanding dues.

President of SGWKA, Atul Goyal said that the warp knitters association has implemented strict payment terms for its buyers in order to curb increasing default cases. In the last few months, many warp knitters have lost huge amount of money to the defaulters in the textile markets. Hence they have decided to reward those making early payments by giving them one percent discount on the total bill payment made within 10 days.

In the last two years, around 1,000 warp knitting machines have been installed by the powerloom weavers in different parts of the city. The yearly turnover of knitted fabric is pegged at Rs 1,500 crore.
