Spinnova x Wake Up Orange
With the launch of 0.5B anorak in Wake Up Orange, Spinnova and Bergans are expanding their Collection of Tomorrow’s anorak range. The collection’s anoraks are now available in a long-awaited drop and will be delivered to customers with original artwork by Norwegian artist Danny Larsen.
Bergans and Spinnova launched Collection of Tomorrow in 2019 and have so far released three commercial products. Since its inception, the award-winning cooperation has pushed the frontiers of circular design. The new 0.5B anorak was also announced as the overall winner of the recent Scandinavian Outdoor Award.
Bjørnhild Hoveid Steingrimsen, product developer at Bergans, said that they consider The Collection of Tomorrow to be their most meaningful initiative and one that is too vital to ignore. The collection’s newest eye-catching color emphasizes this message.
Similar to the previous anoraks, the latest batch is treated with Halley Stevenson’s EverWax Olive, which is a wax treatment based on olive oil and other plant-based wax types. This technique, which contains no synthetic components, allows the fabric to be fully recycled, making the anoraks 100% circular.
Spinnova is a revolutionary circular textile fiber created without harmful chemicals from sustainably sourced wood or garbage. It emits 65 percent less CO2 and uses 99 percent less water (cradle to gate) than cotton, sheds no microplastics, and biodegrades quickly.
Janne Poranen, co-founder and CEO of Spinnova, said that they’re happy to see their long-term strategic relationship with Bergans continue, and they’ve been looking forward to their next drop of circular products to consumers.
Spinnova’s long-term commercial goals include manufacturing over one million tonnes of fiber per year in the next 10 to 12 years. To fulfill the growing demand for sustainable materials from worldwide textile companies, the business announced intentions to open its first commercial production in Finland in February 2021. The mill, which will create Spinnova fiber in a joint venture with strategic partner Suzano, the world’s largest cellulose producer, is slated to be completed by the end of 2022.
