Vinted
Vinted, a secondhand marketplace, has added a new Item Verification service to its UK platform. This service allows users to obtain authenticity checks for selected designer items. Buyers can opt for this service at £10 per item, applicable to brands listed at £100 or more. These verified brands will feature a diamond-shaped insignia on their product listings.
The verified item is sent to a newly established verification hub in London, where a team of trained professionals authenticates it. Once the verification process is complete, the item is returned to the customer. This service was launched following Vinted’s acquisition of Rebelle, a German luxury resale site, in 2022. Rebelle contributed expertise in item verification to enhance Vinted’s offerings.
Adam Jay, CEO of Vinted, emphasized the importance of authenticity and trust in online second-hand shopping. The Item Verification service aims to make these aspects accessible to all users and make e-commerce a more authentic and safer place.
