Unifi plans to enhance capacity of polyester texturing in US, Central America

Unifi Manufacturing, Inc. headquartered in Greensboro, NC is a leading producer and processor of multi-filament polyester and nylon textured yarns and related raw materials. They plan to expand its operations to suit the demand for synthetics which has enjoyed continued growth in recent years on the popularity of leisure and performance apparel.

The textured and processed yarns producer said that it would increase its polyester texturing capacity in the U.S. and Central America to support the growing demand for synthetic yarns. Unifi will add texturing machines in Yadkinville and Madison, North Carolina and in El Salvador.

The expansion will also support the growth of the company’s premier value-added product lines with brands like The North Face and Ford. Unifi’s installation of new machinery is expected to be complete this June.

The company is committed to accommodating customers looking to source product in the western hemisphere. As Synthetic apparel production in the region has seen continuous growth in the last five years, averaging 5 to 6 percent each year.

Unifi’s core business consists of the manufacturing of POY (partially-oriented yarn), the texturing, air-jet texturing, twisting, and beaming of polyester and the texturing and covering of nylon filament yarns. Additionally, they have a large package dyeing operation, where thye are able to dye a wide range of substrates. Unifi yarns can be found in many products, including apparel, hosiery, automotive, industrial applications and home and contract furnishings. Unifi provide innovative, global textile solutions and unique branded yarns for customers at every level of the supply chain.
