UNIFI launches yarns for high-performance textile use

UNIFI, the maker of REPREVE recycled yarns, has launched Cofira, a versatile yarn designed to combine characteristics of both filament and spun yarns. The new yarn offers the comfort associated with spun yarns alongside the functionality of filament yarns, while allowing synthetic, blended and functional fiber technologies to be integrated into its construction.

Cofira is designed to provide greater flexibility for textile manufacturers and brands developing performance products. According to UNIFI, the yarn can be used across a range of applications, including apparel, furnishings, gear and accessories, while supporting the incorporation of sustainable performance technologies. Its construction is intended to simplify the development of products requiring both comfort and functional performance.

UNIFI has also introduced Resist2O Pro, an expanded water-resistant yarn offering designed for different fabric formation methods. The technology provides durable water resistance without the use of topical treatments or fluorinated chemistry, while maintaining fabric performance. It is intended for applications across apparel, footwear, furnishings and industrial textiles. UNIFI said both new technologies are engineered with recycled materials and are designed to combine performance, versatility and sustainability.
