Unifi introduces innovative deodorising yarn

Unifi, a North Carolina-based maker of Repreve recycled and synthetic yarns, has launched AMY Peppermint, a naturally deodorising yarn designed to deliver long-lasting freshness. The innovation uses sustainably sourced peppermint oil to provide built-in odour control, offering a botanical alternative to conventional antimicrobial treatments.

AMY Peppermint ensures freshness throughout the life of a product and is designed for wide applications in apparel, footwear, home textiles, and transportation. Available globally in both virgin and Repreve recycled polyester, its deodorising effect lasts through 50 home washes. The yarn is fully traceable with FiberPrint technology and certified by U-Trust, GRS, and SCS for recycled content.

“This launch reinforces our commitment to sustainable innovation,” said Eddie Ingle, CEO of Unifi. “AMY Peppermint gives brands a powerful tool to deliver freshness and performance through the power of nature.”

AMY Peppermint joins Unifi’s existing AMY anti-odour range, which already includes yarns infused with silver and zinc oxide. Together, the platform provides brands with versatile freshness solutions that combine comfort, performance, and sustainability, and can be integrated with other performance technologies.
