Turkey seeks investment opportunities in handicraft sectors of Kashmir

A meeting was held between President, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) and Vice-President Turkish Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry to discuss various business promotion aspects as Turkish businessmen showed keen interest to promote Kashmir handicraft back home. The meeting was organized by the World Trade Centre, Noida, which has formulated a roadman for Kashmir brand to be promoted worldwide.

The agreement was reached up on Monday between Valley’s apex trade body Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) and Turkish-Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry here at The Lalit Grand Palace, to work for the mutual trade agreements and help in economic growth of all the sectors.

KCCI has invited at least 50 Turkish businessmen to visit Valley in November this year to explore investment opportunities in Kashmir in all sectors especially handicraft sector including silk carpet, pashmina and other such handicrafts. They will be meeting the local businessmen to work for a bilateral trade and will also be taken for FAM tour.

The Turkish delegation showed keen interest in organizing business promotion events/roadshows for KCCI in Turkey to showcase Kashmir’s handicraft products. The Turkish assured the KCCI delegation that they can help promote Kashmir Handicraft business on-line. The Turkish delegation also expressed willingness to help promote in joint venture in Tourism, Construction Industry, Healthy System, Ceramics, Furniture and Textile Industry.

Kashmir is already a brand but it is projected wrongly and local products have not been highlighted properly. WTC will help Kashmiri businessmen and local products in positioning the local products rightly in the international market.

KCCI will also get an opportunity to create direct business opportunities and promote Kashmiri products worldwide in Turkey.

The KCCI delegation was led by its President Sheikh Ashiq while Senior Vice President Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Secretary General Musadiq Shah, Joint Secretary General Faiz Bakshi, Past President Rouf Punjabi were also present in the meeting.

While, the Turkish delegation was headed by Vice President of Turkish Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Mehmet Ali Seker, Vice President of Education Endowment Trust Seban Kucckzoroglu. Associate Director of World Trade Centre (Noida) Khair Ull Nissa Shah was also present during the meeting and presented a roadmap to KCCI for promoting Kashmir brand worldwide.

KCCI will be preparing a proper plan which will be showcased to the Turkish delegation. They are hopeful of positive outcomes from such trade ties as there are many similarities between the two places.
