Top winners of BW Disrupt Women Entrepreneur Awards

The BW Disrupt Women Entrepreneur Summit and Awards saw a jury of business professionals from a number of fields, including Aditya Prakash Gupta, Partner at GEMs, recognise India’s female entrepreneurs on Feb. 1. The online beauty platform Nykaa’s founder Falguni Nayar was named as the “Woman Entrepreneur of the Year” at the event.

Nayar launched Nykaa as an online multi-brand beauty platform in 2012. The site has gone on to become one of India’s largest beauty retailers and has also expanded offline with brick-and-mortar retail outlets. The business has also expanded into fashion and, promoted by FSN E-Commerce Ventures Pvt Ltd., is embracing an increasingly omni-channel strategy.

Falguni Nayar, CEO and founder of Nykaa, has been presented with the “Woman Entrepreneur of the Year” award at the BW Disrupt Women Entrepreneur Summit and Awards. Nayar attended the event and spoke with Dr. Annurag Batra, the chairman and editor-in-chief of BW Businessworld and the Exchange4media Group upon receiving her award. Nayar told the story of her brand and thanked the jury.

Other award winners included Neerja Birla, the founder and chairperson of the Aditya Birla Education Trust, who won the “Inspirational Woman Entrepreneur of the Year” award and Lubeina L Shahpurwala, the co-founder of Mustang Socks & Accessories, winner of the “Fashion & Lifestyle Woman Entrepreneur” award.
