At the Lineapelle leather fair in September, Texon, the U.K.-based producer of materials for the footwear industry, will introduce its first insole made entirely of recycled material.
The insole, which can be manufactured in the net form to save waste and is made using a unique fusion-bonding method that does not use chemicals or water, is a “game-changing sustainable solution” for strobel applications, according to Texon.
At the Milan event, where Texon will be commemorating 75 years of sustainable innovation, further information about the insole will be made public.
ProWeave, a patented jacquard weaving technology that enables the seamless integration of functional and design weaving into a single upper with the option to use recycled yarns, will be highlighted by Texon in addition to some of its more established, heritage components for the footwear, accessories, and apparel industries.
Additionally, it will highlight Reform 2.0 heel counters, which continue the legacy of Texon’s first closed-loop solution and now contain up to 66% sustainably sourced content, as well as Halo heel counters, which the company claims contain 50% recycled content and are supplied net, meaning there is zero waste.
Texon’s group sales director, Bryan Whitfield, said that although 2022 is only halfway over, it has already been a significant year for the company. A lasting, value-adding partner for their clients is created by the merger of two top-tier companies.
