Taiwan’s sustainable textile industry grows at a tremendous pace.

Taiwan is showcasing the “Taiwan select” segment, in which the textile manufacturers in Taiwan show their projects and developments in the sustainability sector for sports markets. The Taiwan industry is doing amazing in the sports sector and is among the top 7 in the world. In 2019, the value of the country’s textile exports was US$9.18 billion. The textile sector has moved from conventional cheap mass production to a more integrated value system, which focuses on high-quality materials and is leading in sports and outdoor clothing. They have successfully attained their motive with excellent communication skills and a consistent level of quality.

The Taiwan Textile Federation now focuses on establishing itself and mastering innovative, sustainable and intelligent textiles. The country’s performance in recycled materials and fibers is already appreciable but is still enthusiastic about combining high-tech, ecology, functionality and life aesthetics for finding more sustainable solutions in the textile industry. It has produced recycled polyester and nylon from ocean waste and water-free dyeing methods. The manufactures while producing the raw materials and fibers also keep in mind the sustainable textile standards given in Bluesign, GRS, ZDHC, Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex and Restricted Substance Lists.

The Taiwan Textile Federation is also catering online on ISPO Munich Online in this pandemic to interact with the global buyers. In the “Taiwan Select” section there are videos and descriptions of their innovative products that have been used in different sectors and projects in textiles & apparel, healthcare, fitness, and urban segments to keep up with the sustainability aspect.

A few of the products featured are Umorfil, a bionic fiber technology, bio-based Airmem Colorshell fabrics with USDA certification, and Seawool, which is made from discarded oyster shells and recycled polyester bottles.
