Taiwanese delegation to be present at the investment summit in India

Taiwan in its efforts to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation with India would be sending a delegation to attend an investment summit in India next month from January 10 to 14, the delegation will also take the opportunity to explore further cooperation with India’s government and private sector, Elliott Charng, director general of the Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Department of East Asian and Pacific Affairs said.

The delegation will comprise officials from the ministries of economic and foreign affairs and business representatives. The business representatives on the delegation would be mainly from the textile industries, electronics and shipbuilding field.

The investment summit will be held Jan. 11-13 in the highly industrialized state of Gujarat, which stretches 1,600 kilometers along India’s west coast.

The minister for education, science and technology said that eight countries – the US, Japan, Australia, Canada, Singapore, South Africa, Britain and the Netherlands will be partners for the seventh edition of Vibrant Gujarat Investment Summit to be held in Gandhinagarm Gujarat.

Over 2,500 international delegates from more than 150 countries are expected for the event, as against 2,100 from 121 countries in 2013.

This will be the first summit without Narendra Modi (now Prime Minister) as the chief minister but state cabinet minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said that he was confident that Gujarat will sign more agreements than it did in the previous summit.
