TAION launches world’s first belt-type health sensing wearable

D.O.N Co. Ltd., headquartered in Nagoya, Japan has announced the launch of VITAL BELT, described as the world’s first abdominal belt-type sensing wearable device. The product introduces a new concept of “healthcare worn as a belt,” combining the company’s experience in apparel development with advanced millimetre-wave sensing technology. VITAL BELT offers a simple, non-invasive way to monitor daily health without disrupting routine activities.

VITAL BELT is the first wearable device to use millimetre-wave sensing from the waist position. Until now, this technology had not been applied for close-range sensing of human body movement. Unlike smartwatches or ring-type devices, VITAL BELT does not need direct contact with the skin. It can measure breathing, pulse, and body movement even when worn over clothing. This allows the collection of physiological data that has been difficult to track with conventional wearables.

VITAL BELT is designed with ease of use in mind and features a natural fit using neodymium magnets. The structure separates the sensing buckle from the belt section, allowing the buckle to be removed for charging while the belt continues to be worn like a regular accessory. The belt section can also be customised in terms of design, material, and colour, offering users both functionality and personal style.

Through the dedicated app, users complete an initial authentication and calibration process to personalise data collection. The app supports health monitoring based on breathing, pulse, and sleep data, while accumulated information can also be used to offer recommendations and insights to support daily health and lifestyle choices.
