sts2030
The Swiss textile industry has launched the Sustainable Textiles Switzerland (STS 2030) program to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The program has officially launched its implementation phase, with the goal of making a substantial contribution to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the Swiss textile and garment sector.
The Swiss apparel program is supported by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN), and the Swiss sustainability roadmap envisions a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in the textile sector as well as the promotion of fair wages, decent work, and innovative business models toward a circular economy. Furthermore, the actors should ensure more transparency in order to make long-term purchase decisions.
During the implementation phase, enterprises and organizations must connect their service offerings with sustainability goals. Furthermore, all stakeholders should implement a “proactive information policy” to encourage more environmentally friendly consumption and purchase, as well as more sustainable use of textiles.
All participating enterprises, institutions, and organizations must address the sustainable development goals through their entrepreneurial activities and track progress on a regular basis.
