Sustainable Fashion Week to debut its all-new catwalk show at Bristol

Bristol will host the UK’s first Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) on September 16; with a number of panel discussions, shows and eco-conscious activations to be a part of the schedule.

The catwalk show revolves around four main themes, namely: regenerate, rewear, repurpose, and reconnect—will be combined in a runway show on September 21 at the city’s The Mount Without venue as part of the festival.

Four community partners, including the rental platform, Wear My Wardrobe Out, the ecologically conscious Back2Nature, and Future Leap in partnership with apparel manufacturer Lucy & Yak, will support a variety of upcycled, vintage, and sustainable clothing as it makes its way down the runway.

On September 22, Bristol City Centre BID will organize a student shopping day with sustainable shopping deals that are meant to encourage students to reduce their shopping frequency.

The Vintage Thrift Store will have a panel discussion and live styling by professionals in the business as a follow-up to the event.

Other activities include a pop-up clothes exchange, a session on clothing alterations, and exclusive deals from nearby companies like Oxfam and Loot Vintage.

In a release, founder of SFW, Amelia Twine, said that they aim to inspire people to look at what they already have in their closets and become creative by displaying how pre-loved and sustainable fashion can be worn again and again in a number of different ways.
