Streetwear re-commerce platform Responsible launches new Buy-Back service

Streetwear re-commerce platform, RESPONSIBLE, has teamed up with  British fashion label, RÆBURN to introduce its new Buy-Back service, which allows customers to effortlessly participate in the circular economy by selling back products for shop credit.

RÆBURN, the sustainable label founded by Christopher Raeburn, will be the first brand partner to implement the Buy-Back program on its website, which will go online on Monday, November 29.

The new plug-in tool will be available on RESPONSIBLE’s own streetwear resale platform as well, with further brand partners who will be able to integrate the technology directly into their online stores to be revealed soon.

The plug-in solution will allow RÆBURN consumers to sell products back at the end of their lives for a pre-determined price that can be redeemed with the brand and as a credit on Responsible.us.

Once a customer has signed up for the service, they can return an item purchased from Responsible.us or a partner brand. It will then be cleaned with ozone and UV light technology, repaired and validated as necessary, and put back on the streetwear re-commerce site for sale.

Products that are not suitable for resale are recycled or up-cycled.

According to RESPONSIBLE, it is the world’s first authenticated Buy-Back program for streetwear. RESPONSIBLE serves as a catalyst for change, propelling streetwear towards a better, sustainable, and more accessible future.

RESPONSIBLE founder and CEO, Mark Dowds, said that only 5-7 percent of the billions of items of clothing made each year are sold a second time. The foundation for buyers and brands of all sizes to readily engage in a circular fashion is provided by RESPONSIBLE’s reinvention for the circular streetwear economy. They feel that reusing clothing is the most effective thing they can all do to make fashion more sustainable and that the streetwear industry is underserved by the current options. Their re-Commerce site and Buy Back structure provide a completely upgraded shopping experience, and they believe this is a critical step forward in bringing circularity to the streetwear sector.

Mark Dowds and Mitchell Doust started RESPONSIBLE in 2021 with the goal of bringing streetwear into the circular economy by developing a re-commerce platform for premium labels.
