Special Handloom Expo- 2016 at Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra organized by the State Handloom Development Corporation Limited (Poshish) and sponsored by Development Commissioner, Union Ministry of Textile, was inaugurated by Managing Director, State Handloom Development Corporation, Anal Kumar Gupta, yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, the MD stressed upon the need to promote the handloom activities being carried out in the State by adopting latest techniques and tools. He appreciated the efforts of Handloom Corporation and Handloom Department in organizing such activities which besides promoting state’s traditional handloom products also facilitates direct contact between buyers and weavers.
He assured the representatives of cooperative societies to hold such expo’s in future in other parts of the State also. The MD visited stalls at the Expo and inspected products displayed by about 50 Cooperative Societies of the State.
The State Development Corporation is making efforts to provide jobs to weavers besides ensuring them marketing support.
The Special Handloom export held at Katra will continue till January 30.
