Reju x Nouvelles Fibres
Reju, a leader in textile-to-textile regeneration, has announced a partnership with France-based Nouvelles Fibres Textiles (NFT), a company specializing in textile waste recovery. The collaboration aims to support the development of a circular textile ecosystem by sourcing and recycling textile waste, with NFT providing secondary raw materials to Reju for recycling and production of Reju Polyester.
The partnership will focus on enhancing infrastructure for collecting and processing apparel and textile waste from both post-consumer and post-industrial sources. An open supply chain model will ensure 100 percent traceability of recycled materials.
This collaboration aligns with Reju’s goal to create a sustainable supply chain and lower the carbon footprint of polyester, starting with the new Reju Polyester, which has a projected 50 percent lower carbon footprint than virgin polyester and can be regenerated infinitely.
Reju CEO Patrik Frisk emphasized the importance of this partnership in advancing a circular textile ecosystem. He noted that with the impending EU regulations on textile waste, scalable solutions like those being developed with NFT are critical to prevent waste from ending up in landfills or incineration.
Eric Boël and Etienne Wiroth, co-directors of NFT, highlighted the culmination of six years of research in creating a turnkey solution for recycling end-of-life textiles. They emphasized that the partnership with Reju supports the shift to a “permindustry” — a circular, local, and less carbon-intensive approach to textile production, with a focus on collaboration and sustainability.
