Ramraj plans to expand its business into north India market

RAMRAJ Group set up in 1983 is a star production and trading house of Dhoties, engaged in the business of Indian Market for giving the value addition to the Indians life style. The company is located in Tirupur town, the hub of Indian knit garment industry near to the textile city of Coimbatore in Tamilnadu,in the southern state of India. Ramraj plan to now expand its business into north Indian garment market as well.

The company’s founder and chairman K R Nagarajan said that till now their presence and focus was only in the southern states but it will foray into northern states too by next month. With its foray into the northern markets, the company has plans to make kurta-pajama sets. Its products come in pure cotton, poly cotton, linen and silk.

The 30-year-old company makes white-only garments across product categories like shirts, dothis, innerwear, tops and kurtis for women and Kerala-style mundu and sarees.

The company has invested to the tune of Rs 50 crore into manufacturing facilities for expansion to cater to demand from across the country. Their facilities which produced only 10,000 shirts a day with the expansion can now make 30,000 shirts a day to meet demand from the new markets.

Ramraj has also decided to reposition itself as a brand for the youth for which it has in cricketer Ashwin Ravichandran as it brand ambassador as part of its repositioning process and launched a new collection of formal and casual wear shirts.

Currently the company has a turnover of about Rs 600 crore, with dothis contributing about 65% to the revenues and about Rs 50 crore of these revenues come from exports to countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Ceylon and Dubai.

With the launch of its range of casual shirts for the youth, and its foray into new markets it has set a target revenue of Rs.1,000 crore for the next financial year 2014-15.

At present the company primarily markets Cotton dhoties, Shirtings, Vests, Trunk, Briefs, Panties, Shimmies, and Children inner wears with High Quality at Right Cost.
