Puma to host first-of-its-kind conference centered around sustainable fashion

Sportawear brand, Puma, is hosting a global conference, to address some of the most important sustainability issues facing the fashion industry, including waste, resources, and climate change.

“Conference of the People” will feature Puma’s industry colleagues, activists, NGOs, experts, ambassadors, and customers on September 6 in London and webcast globally.

The topics of waste management, utilizing more environmentally friendly products, halting climate change, preserving forests, and strategies for the business community to work together to see results more quickly will be covered by the guests.

The firm introduced the PUMACOP platform before the event so that consumers could learn more about it and express interest in attending. On this platform, the event will also be a live broadcast.

The event will be hosted by actress, model, and campaigner Cara Delevingne, together with Puma CEO Bjrn Gulden and CSO Anne-Laure Descours.

Delevingne said in a statement that he has worked on environmental issues with Puma for several years, and together they have introduced more sustainable collections like Exhale. It is crucial to keep talking about this subject so that they can resolve environmental problems like climate change, waste disposal, and biodiversity.

Puma’s CEO, Bjrn Gulden, added that they will focus on Gen Z during this event in order to offer this generation a voice in the choices that must be taken now in order to create a more sustainable future. They refer to it as the Conference of the People, but at the UN they refer to it as the Conference of the Parties.

In spite of significant sales growth over the same period, Puma said earlier this year that it has decreased its carbon emissions, including the usage of renewable energy certificates, between 2017 and 2021 from both its own operations (-88%) and its supplier chain (-12%). The corporation wants to use more eco-friendly materials in the production of nine out of ten goods by 2025.

For 225 invited guests, Conference of the People will begin on September 6 at 12 p.m. BST in Shoreditch, London.
