Prada- organic denim
Prada’s latest Pre-Fall 2021 collection debuts its line of recycled denim items, following the pattern of luxury fashion companies pushing towards a more sustainable means.
Prada’s latest range joins a slew of other designers who, if they weren’t already doing so, announced new measures to reduce their environmental effects in celebration of Earth Day last month.
The collection uses registered 100 percent Global Organic Textile Standard cotton that has been grown from an organic farm that minimizes its effects on the environment by removing fertilizers and pesticides. The brand then dyes the denim using an “Acquasave” process that uses less water than most, saving 10 liters per meter of fabric. The collection is made entirely of natural materials, which helps the brand’s EIM (environmental impact measurement) by reducing water waste and washing time.
Raf Simons has helped reinvent Prada’s image to something more akin to today’s iconic street-style looks since joining Miuccia Prada as co-Creative Director. Denim looks such as a casual romper as well as a matching bra top and wide-legged jeans are included in this collection, which suits the idea well.
Other non-denim looks like silver-studded garments and casual white dresses, on the other hand, add a more feminine touch to the overall collection. A collection of branded accessories like crochet bags, terry cloth headpieces, or an elegant pair of white loafers, complete each look.
The collection is also available both in stores and online.
