Gujarati businessmen, mainly from Surat and Saurashtra, made Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to the Indian Diaspora at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Centre at Gouzhan Road in Shanghai on May 16 a grand success.

PM Modi met the chairman of China-based Broad construction company, Daniel Zhang which holds the record of constructing buildings in a very short time. Also, PM met the chairman of Xingtu Bridge Company who has constructed more than 70 bridges over sea across China.
Around 200 diamantaires and jewellery manufacturers in Hong Kong had chartered planes to Shanghai to meet Modi. Some Surti businessmen had sponsored more than 1,000 students of Indian origin studying in Chinese universities to attend the function.
Around 100 Guajarati’s from Sarjan group, a social and cultural group of diamantaires, had organized an event on May 10 at Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong to welcome Modi.
