PANGAIA becomes B Corp certified

Pangaia, a materials science and fashion company, has achieved B Corp certification, scoring 84.5 on its assessment. B Corp is a certification that assesses a brand’s social and environmental effect and is managed by the nonprofit B Lab.

There are more than 300 questions on government, labor, communities, and environmental effect.

The clothing company has earned certification as a B Corp, joining a community of 6,058 companies worldwide. Over 1,000 businesses make up the B Corp community in the UK, including Thrift+, Berghaus, TOMS, and Allbirds.

Maria Srivastava, Chief Impact Officer at PANGAIA, said that being certified as a B Corp is a significant accomplishment, especially thus early in the process. The B Corp framework supports their ongoing efforts to inspire and hasten the development of an Earth-positive future and guarantees that they will keep conducting business in a unique way that prioritizes the planet and its inhabitants.

ensures that we continue to do business differently, prioritising the planet and its people.”

In appreciation of the brand’s usage of more cutting-edge materials and procedures, PANGAIA has also been acknowledged for having four Impact Business Models (IBMs) spanning governance and environmental.

PANGAIA introduced a line in December 2021 that used biology-based dying technology. The Colorifix process reduces water use by at least 49%, electricity by 35%, and CO2 emissions by 31% when compared to conventional cotton dyeing.

PANGAIA stated their ambition to become carbon-neutral by 2040 and to achieve net-zero operations by 2025 earlier this year.
