Panda Biotech, Culturewell launch India’s first integrated hemp supply chain

Panda Biotech has announced the launch of India’s first fully integrated hemp fiber-to-yarn supply chain ecosystem in partnership with Culturewell Trading LLP and its subsidiary Culturewell Hemp Pvt. Ltd.

The partnership has established the infrastructure needed to convert certified U.S.-grown hemp from mechanically cottonized fiber into finished yarn within India. The system now includes degumming and spinning capabilities that were previously unavailable in the Indian hemp textile market.

By combining Panda Biotech’s mechanically processed hemp fibre with Culturewell’s local market expertise and distribution network, the companies aim to increase the use of hemp-based materials across India’s textile industry.

All shipments under the partnership are supported by OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification and USDA BioPreferred Program certification, strengthening the focus on sustainability, traceability, and quality assurance.

The products offered through the partnership include textile-grade mechanically cottonized hemp fiber processed without scouring or bleaching. This fiber can be blended with cotton and other cellulosic fibers to produce coarse-count yarns. Mills have reportedly succeeded in spinning yarns ranging from 6s to 30s counts using this fiber.
